The Secret Garden of kkultture

So, the Pirate Bay guys were convicted, conversations exploded across the intarwebz, boycotts called for, demonstrations and the RIAA connected congloms are now beaming in their ill-fated hubris. Next – DdoS attack on IFPI’s site, fax attack is planned, will Anonymous stay silent?

“This is music to the ears of the thousands of small independents and artists who produce the majority of new releases today. It demonstrates a real understanding of the dilemma that if no one pays for music today who will make the exciting new music of tomorrow? ” Helen Smith, executive director of the Independent Music Companies Association was quoted as saying.

We here at kkoagulaa headquarters will first point to the kkoagulaa Manifestoooo. We will then answer that the people making the exciting music of tomorrow will be the same people who are making the exciting music now, the same people it has always been. Thos individuals who can not live without creating, who would rather give up the air they breathe, food and shelter than find something else to do.

The major label system and the copyright laws they have manipulated over the last couple decades is already dead and its bloated corpse is spreading disease. That the corporations are shown to supersede the autonomy of Sweden is worrying, though. The whole history of extra-legal manipulation and harassment of the Pirate Bay is fraught with bribery, circumvention of law and plain illegal tactics. One could hope to see this decision overturned, but as the raping of international commerce by banks with the assistance of every government in the developed world shows, the entire world is in the grip of a corporate oligarchy.

Government is merely a shiny thing to distract the populace. {S}megacorp media and entertainment are part of the spectacle, mass market music, news, film and television exist for the same reason, the different colors on the packaging are just to give the illusion of choice.

There is a thought that occurs to me as I drive past the many gated communities in this ritzy area of Florida. I’m glad the real estate speculators, Disney executives and yuppies are walled in and kept safely from the rest of us. We just need to lock the gates from the outside. I would love to see the major labels and movie studios come up with the perfect impregnable DRM, so they can be left to rot within their walled gardens.

Let it not be said that kkoagulaa are against labels and artists trying to arrive at a circumstance where they can concentrate on their life’s work. We will be announcing a label soon, and the creativity and openness, the ability and willingness to use new approaches will be important factors in our choice of partnership. Don’t forget, everyone is a part of kkoagulaa, from the coked-up MAFIAA lawyer, to the torrenting kid, to the buzzards circling above waiting for that moment when culture and the human spirit expires. Carrion birds in flight who shall never land.
